A local organization just
made the holiday season a little more special
for area children and adults with developmental
disabilities.
Dallas Griffith, Streetsboro
Fraternal Order of Eagles trustee, presented
Nov. 15, 2007, a $3,000 donation to Hattie
Larlham.
The money will directly
go to the needs of the children and adults
who use Hattie Larlham services, according
to Jennifer Porter, Hattie Larlham associate
director of development.
“The aeries across
the state have been extraordinarily generous
to Hattie Larlham,” Porter said. “And
it’s wonderful to have such great
support from an organization that’s
right down the road.”
Each year, the Eagles
hosts events including a reverse raffle
and comedy night to raise money for charity.
At the year’s end, members vote on
where to donate the proceeds.
“It’s something
that we really look forward to doing each
year,” Griffith said of the organization’s
philanthropy.
On a national level, the
1.1-million-member Eagles annually donates
more than $100 million to local communities
and charities.
“People helping
people has been one of the Eagles’
core values for more than a century and
that has really shown this holiday season,”
Porter said.
