The work we do at Hattie Larlham has tremendous rewards. There is nothing more gratifying than seeing people with disabilities experience personal growth, particularly for the health care workers who interact with them on a daily basis.
Aside from intangible rewards, Hattie Larlham offers many other benefits to employees. Whether employees work in health care jobs, administrative roles or meet any of our other functions, they are entitled to the benefits outlined below depending upon their employment status.
Hattie Larlham offers health care insurance through SummaCare and dental insurance through Guardian Dental. Employees are eligible for a $25,000 life insurance group policy and have the option to purchase additional voluntary life insurance.
In addition to six paid holidays, our employees who work 40 hours per week and part-time employees who transfer to 40 hours per week, are eligible for up to a maximum of 80 hours of paid vacation after one year of continuous employment. Employees who work a minimum of 32 hours per week are entitled to up to 64 hours of paid vacation after the first year.
All employees who maintain continuous employment in their jobs, become eligible for an additional eight hours of vacation each subsequent year through four years of employment. Once employees have been in their jobs for five straight years, they earn up to 120 hours of paid vacation. After 10 years of service, they become eligible for 160 hours of paid vacation.
Our employees begin accumulating sick time as soon as they begin their jobs. Employees earn four hours of sick leave pay for every 173 hours worked.
We encourage our employees to save for retirement by matching 25 cents for every $1 invested up to 6 percent for employees after one year of continuous employment for them.
We have one of the most comprehensive on-site wellness programs of any employer in Ohio. Among these benefits, we host an annual wellness fair where we bring in health care workers to give employees the opportunity to undergo a variety of screenings, including blood pressure tests and cholesterol tests. We also bring in health care workers to give free on-site mammograms to employees each year.
At Hattie Larlham, we also encourage physical activity among our employees. All too often, people fail to engage in physical activity, especially in Ohio where the weather remains cold the majority of the year. To help change that pattern, we offer discounts to the Ravenna Athletic Center in Ravenna, Ohio.
We began a walking club as well. Participants are separated into teams. Each person is given a pedometer and the team that logs the most steps earns a prize. In 2008 and 2009 combined, participants logged a total of 8,582,972 steps. Thatís the equivalent of walking from Northeast Ohio to California and then walking from Northeast Ohio to Florida.
