The activities assistant/driver position provides day programming to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities served. The activities assistant will work with domestic animals and engage people served in a variety of animal-related outings and activities. Services may include assisting people with disabilities with personal care, transportation, interpersonal relationships and other services outlined in the participant’s individual service plan (ISP). Animal services may include feeding, cage cleaning, grooming and arranging veterinary appointments.
The activities assistant/driver position is also responsible for driving a Hattie Larlham van or bus. The job candidate will transport people with intellectual and developmental disabilities from their homes to their day programs. This position is responsible for route schedules and to ensure program participants arrive safely and on time. The activities assistant/driver performs daily vehicle(s) cleaning and maintenance and ensures the vehicle(s) is/are safe and maintain all required inspections. This is a full-time position; Monday through Friday. Working hours are 7:30 a.m. -4:30 p.m. The ideal candidate will maintain a flexible schedule to meet the program’s needs.
The activities assistant/driver position requires a high school diploma or GED and at least one year experience working with people with disabilities. The position requires a valid Ohio driver’s license meeting Hattie Larlham driving requirements. The candidate must pass criminal background check and post-offer drug screening.
