Job Description

The Hattie Larlham Foundation has an exciting internship in its development department. The successful candidates will focus efforts on fundraising, planned giving, corporate research, development initiatives and programs.

The development intern(s) works directly with Hattie Larlham’s corporate relations and major gift officer to gain valuable skills while assisting with corporate research and fundraising for Hattie Larlham in northeast Ohio. This unpaid internship can provide school credit, portfolio-building experience, a flexible schedule and valuable experience in the non-profit fundraising world.

Candidates for this internships must be energetic, a team player, results-oriented and dedicated to the achievement of personal and team goals. The internship requires candidates that have confidence in interpersonal communication, comfort with phone cultivation and a passion for making a difference in the lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

The development intern’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  1. Corporate and community research
  2. Create, develop and implement marketing materials and mailings
  3. Work with staff and volunteers to help cultivate new donors
  4. Create and update a solicitation data base
  5. Assist as necessary with the implementation of new fundraising strategies
  1. Duration: 4 – 6 months or flexible
  2. Hours: Minimum of 15 – 20 hours per week
  3. Days: Monday and Wednesday or flexible

Job Requirements

Desired Experience:

  • Currently enrolled as an undergraduate (or recently graduated)
  • Candidate must exude professionalism
  • Commitment to a flexible work schedule of a minimum of 15 hours per week
  • Excellent writing, research and interpersonal communication skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications, web and social media
  • Ability to prioritize and handle a variety of assignments simultaneously in a fast-paced and time-sensitive work environment
