Catherine Schwartz joined Hattie Larlham in 2012 and currently serves as the organization’s chief development officer. She is responsible for Hattie Larlham's fundraising and communications programs, major and planned gifts and strategic planning. She is a member of the executive team.
Prior to Hattie Larlham, Schwartz led a for-profit publishing company where she was responsible for budgeting, revenue growth, contract and M&A negotiation, editorial excellence, marketing and outreach.
As Associate Dean for Development and Public Affairs at Case Western Reserve University of Law in the early 2000s, Schwartz headed a program which raised more than $1 million annually and laid the groundwork for a successful $25 million capital campaign. During 25 years in the development field, Schwartz has served as the development director for two higher education institutions, an advocacy organization and a nonprofit theatre. She has conducted workshops and training on a variety of fundraising topics.
Schwartz is the co-author of “Capital Campaigns: Strategies that Work” (Aspen Publishers, 1997) and is the author of several articles on fundraising. Schwartz holds a bachelor's degree from Washington University in St. Louis.
