Sensory Adventure Day for Children with Disabilities

Sensory Adventure Day provides children the opportunity to explore play experiences designed to promote sensory stimulation. Sensory Adventure Day is child-directed activity with adult support and encouragement.

Each week, participants experience a variety of sensory activities centered around a theme like the ocean, space, carnival, animals or the seasons. The day includes a morning of sensory exploration followed by lunch, time in the pool and rest time. Each day finishes with a group activity. Children have support for each sensory experience, pool time and group activity. In between group activities, children can explore activity stations that include:

• Obstacle Course
• Activity Swing
• Silly Pool
• Sensory Activity
• Sensory Snack
• Sensory Craft
• Bubbles

Sensory Adventure Day is for children ages 2 to 7 with sensory processing issues including, but not limited to, autism spectrum disorders, ADD/ADHD, Down syndrome or dysfunction of sensory integration as well as typically developing children.

A parent or guardian must attend with any child under 3 years of age.

Sensory Adventure Day attendees are asked to bring a lunch, change of clothes and swimsuit each camp day. Hattie Larlham is a secure facility and campers must be signed in and out by a parent, guardian or designated adult.

Sensory Adventure Day for Teens with Disabilities

Teen Sensory Adventure Day is a Hattie Larlham program for tweens and teens ages 9 to 13
years old. Program activities mirror Sensory Adventure Day program for children, but is geared toward a young adult audience. The program meets from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. one Saturday a month.

Sensory Adventure Day Registration

Hattie Larlham requires Sensory Adventure Day participants to complete and return a registration form (PDF). Children signed up for 10 sessions receive a reduced rate.

Cost

First child and parent: $25, second child: $15
Teens: $40 per session
